Spilled Milk Update #7

Sent:  Mon 9/20/99 9:46 PM

Hello Again,

You probably thought I had dropped dead from exhaustion after that last update.   But I must say I’ve needed a little break trying to catch up on all that isn’t related to the comic. I suppose a month isn’t so little.

Many of the e-mail addresses out there are the free kind.  I’m glad to see that you are enjoying success of Yahoo or HotMail. Unfortunately that means you don’t get to enjoy this nicely formatted message.  I’ll be posting this message to the web-site when I’m done sending it and it will be at the following link: www.SpilledMilk.com/update_07.htm .  So click away to be able to read this message in a format that is a little more presentable.

You’d think that by giving away the cards at the San Diego Con would have generated a ton of traffic on the web-site.  You’d think that wouldn’t you. But it’s been the same with only a slight increase after the con.  Although not putting stuff on eBay hasn’t really helped either. Mile High Comics has been a big help and hopefully they’ll be able to give the cards to all the N.I.C.E. subscribers out there.  Even All C’s out in Aurora is getting into the act.  They let me put some cards on one of their shelves.  The stack pretty much stays there.  I don’t think people know that they’re free for the taking.  I asked one of the guys  if he would put them in hold slots, but he felt that that was too much work so he directed me to one of the comic shelves where their "pick of the week" is.

I talked with Digital Chameleon last week and they said that I’d have the color corrections by this coming week. AND THE LETTERING TOO!! That is so cool, I can hardly wait. I hope to get these new proofs into the hands of Larry Marder so he can take a look at them. I guess it’s up to him whether or not this is an Image book. That really would be nice, because then the series would have a coveted spot up front in the huge Diamond Previews.

Since Chuck has been on a little hiatus I want to take what he’s got so far and scan it for the web-site.  I think it will be cool to show some "work in progress", even though that’s what this entire web-site is for.  But mostly you’ve seen the site slowly changing when new stuff comes in and the old stuff gets ditched.  Out with the old…  Chuck thinks this will give too much away, but I think that this site is the best thing that has happened to this project.  I hope you feel that way too.  I told him that most people that sign up for the list want to buy copies NOW, so putting artwork out on the web-site certainly has not spoiled anything.   You still don’t really know what the story is about aside from the fact that it has nano-technology in the book.

I plan on creating a very small preview edition. You’d think this is some gimmick to make some extra money, but it’s actually a ploy to stop having to file extensions for the national registration every six months. This issue will be the first eight pages and in black and white (possibly gray tones since it’s already colored). This will include the costume shots and up to, and including, the first dream sequence. I’d like to get this into the hands of retailers. So they can check it out and then they’ll make a fortune when they sell their only copy. But what does that mean for you? Yeah, you on the mailing list? You guessed it! More FREE STUFF! It will probably have to be some kind of random drawing like the signed series.

You probably already got something free via snail mail. A promotional postcard perhaps? If you didn’t, that means that I don’t have your mailing address. Or all I got was your e-mail address when you signed up for the list. I still have plenty more, so if you’re reading this then you need to send in your non-virtual address so I can mail you a card. If you haven’t been telling your friends to sign up then they’re missing out on cool stuff too. At no cost to you.

As directed by somebody in San Diego I have purchased the first two trade paperbacks of Transmetropolitan and I plan to read it soon. My expectations are high, but when you’ve got Warren Ellis writing they are as they should be.

My wife and I have scheduled a night for me to work on stuff. She is the greatest! Whatever that stuff may be, I’ll have a night. Like tonight (Monday night). If the Broncos aren’t playing I just don’t care. That way I don’t have to work from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am most nights.

If you’re in the market for Animated Spawn cels or just want to see a new and growing fan site, then you should check out my sub-site:

I can’t really think of any more… Wow, there’s a first.

Thanks for all your support,

Parker.
