This Just In...

Hey Everybody,
Let’s get to the good stuff… (www.SpilledMilk.com/cover01.htm) Drool cups anybody? Monte has definitely outdone himself on this one. You can’t get to this web page through any other links. The only place you can see it early is by subscribing to this newsletter. I thought I’d put a sneak peak out there for you guys, before the general public sees it at the San Diego Comic Convention. The scan of the cover sketch does not do it justice, but you can at least get a little taste of the cover.

Comic Con
Monte will be in Artists Alley, like he is every year. He will be debuting the cover in full color and really be promoting the hell out of the project. If you took a look at the preview page you’ll notice the main character’s name is CiCi. I’ve been trying to nationally register this name (the coveted circle R ®), along with Spilled Milk, for quite some time now and once I’ve proved use then it’s all water under the bridge. CiCi is also the name of the series. Now that the costume is out in the open, I’ll be able to post more artwork complete with costume.

San Diego Bound
Well I’m finally going to a San Diego Comic Convention. I can’t believe that I haven’t been before as a fan, but now I think I get in free as a "pro" (and no, I don’t consider myself a pro unless people actually like my work and I do it regularly). Chuck assured me at the beginning of last year that there would be at least two issues inked and the third one started. Well that that didn’t happen. So I didn’t make it last year like I had planned. I almost didn’t make it this year, but I said "what the hell, I’m going!". I’ve got to spend my mandatory 5 consecutive days of vacation some where.

I’m actually surprised that I’m going to make it. Well almost make it. I called the Convention Hot Line and requested information on the Con way back in May or so. They tell me that they’re not sending the information out right now and that they would put me on a list to receive info. when it printed. I got worried at the beginning of July when Monte received his stuff and I hadn’t gotten squat. I needed to contact the Con. people again, but after the server crashed and I lost all my Outlook Contacts it was a rather rough task. Fortunately for me they’ve got a web-site (http://www2.comic-con.org/comiccon/) and I e-mailed them stating that I’m a small publisher and I needed the registration forms. Well after looking at the forms for a while I realized that these were only the forms for professional attendance. I needed the exhibitor forms. I call them and they fax me the info. Turns out that all the tables are full and they can put me on a waiting list. So I guess I’m waiting.

In the mean time I’m trying to find a place to stay in the area. I call their list of hotels and they’re all booked up. I wanted to try the hotels on my own, because after the fiasco with the forms I didn’t think they’d be any help. Well I’m glad I was wrong. My last ditch effort was to arrange my lodging through the Con, and the first lady I talked with was a huge help. She found me a spot at the Hyatt (when I tried the Hyatt on my own, they were all booked up too) which is only two blocks from the Con. Excellent! Getting plane tickets was a breeze through the United web-site, but I thought the tickets were a little pricey. I think a 21 day advance purchase would have been cheaper, but I didn’t even know if I had a place to stay until the 21 day margin had passed.

Artists Alley?
So I’ve got tickets and a place to stay, but I haven’t received confirmation from the Con that I’m registered. So I may be standing out front (at least until I’m arrested) handing out the promotional post card. If I’m registered, then I may be wandering around inside handing out the cards. Monte is begging and pleading with the people in Artists Alley so that I can hang out with them. That would be cool.

Inks / Status
Chuck actually brought by three pages on Tuesday!! That was huge! I’m going to start a more detailed status page to show the blazing speed of Chuck’s progress. That way if any of you are wanting to hire him, he’ll have glowing references.

This just in…
Monte finished painting the front cover and took it to the print shop today to have it scanned. I will be printing about 10,000 of these cards to give away at the con. If I’ve got any leftovers then I’ll send some out to you guys. I told you there would be free stuff. I know it’s just a damn card, but at least it’s something. It’s just these little things that keep me going and excited in lieu of Chuck’s pathetic progress.

Thanks for all your support
Parker

Okay, you’re done. You mean you read all the way down to the end? This is like the part of the movie where you get to see cool stuff after everybody left the building… Well no. Maybe it’s not.
