SPILLED MILK PRESS RELEASE #5
For Global Release

Spilled Milk is officially going to press in August.  After six long years since Spilled Milk was created, the four issue miniseries “CiCi” will hit the stands in August.  Technically Spilled Milk has been published before; once in 2000 with the “CiCi Miniseries Preview” and again in 2001 with the “CiCi Miniseries Color Sampler”.  The preview issue, printed in grayscale to save on the marketing budget, was limited to a print run of 5,000, but is standard comic size and contains the full story of issue #1.  This preview issue has been well received by fans and retailers alike which allowed creator, Parker Smart, to breathe a sigh of relief.  But the other shoe won’t drop for Smart until the orders are in and keep coming in.

While out at the 2001 San Diego Comic Convention, Smart did some networking and recruited pencilers Dave Finch, Joe Benitez, Keu Cha, and Andy Park to work on an alternate covers.  Joe Weems added his spectacular inks and colorists Dan Kemp and Steve Firchow lay down some gorgeous hues.  Monte Moore will be painting four wraparound covers for each issue.  Dave, Joe, Keu, and Andy will have their artwork grace the alternate covers of issues one through four respectively.  Smart is hoping that having such big names tied to the title will make a few heads turn and check out his new series.

The series is deeply rooted in nanotechnology and explores the consequences of human cloning and genetic experimentation.  The artwork is top notch and Smart’s writing style, yet unproven, allows the reader to think rather than hold his or her hand the entire way.

For Smart’s fourth year at the San Diego Comic Convention he has already reserved a modest corner booth and hopes this year the fans will be happy that he is finally published.  The growing fan base has been extremely supportive and patient while Smart did the same waiting for the artwork to be completed.  He was very impressed considering that his mailing list started in late 1998 and he didn’t have the preview issue out until mid 2000.  Smart attributes this established fan base, without having an actual book, to his website www.SpilledMilk.com.  Through the site he was able to showcase the project many years before it hit the stands so fans could see the process involved in publishing a comic on your own.  The site also offers a small online preview, so fans and retailers know exactly what they’re buying.  Smart’s goal is to inform people so they don’t feel like they are taking a huge risk on the title and possibly end up buying more than one issue.

Keep an eye out in the June Diamond Previews for the Spilled Milk listing and stay informed at www.SpilledMilk.com where you can read about the project and ask questions of its creator.
